://_THE_MANY_FACES_OF_DENN!S_HOPPERWEEN was inspired by the man himself, Dennis Hopper. The second Madsteez set foot in Hopper’s recent exhibition at the Ace Gallery in Los Angeles, he knew something had to be done. “I’ve seen a lot of shows and this is the most inspirational body of work I have ever seen,” says Deren. “I wanted to do a portrait of him the same way he did portraits of his friends and people he was inspired by like Warhol and Lichtenstein.” Madsteez went on to meet with Hopper, have a photo shoot, and create his most intricate painting to date. “It took 6 months, but it was well worth it,” says Deren

I am deeply saddend by the passing of Dennis Hopper. Being able to share time with him was one of the greatest experiences in my life and will 4ever be inspired by him. R.I.P. – Rest In Power
